Pantolactone is a skin-conditioning ingredient and a derivative/intermediate related to pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5). It is most commonly used in cosmetic formulations as a humectant-supporting ingredient, solvent, stabiliser, and component in the manufacture of panthenol. It helps improve product stability and can contribute to skin hydration and softness.
